Description

This Earth Forged by Fire vase is made by Megan Sweets. This piece is in has indigo flower detailing on the front of the vase. The clay she uses is from the Big Sioux River in SE South Dakota.  Megan’s inspiration is her Native American ancestors. Clay is her preferred medium because it is where the untamed pure beauty of Mother Nature can shine through.  She crafts each unique piece by hand throwing on a potter’s wheel or by “free hand” construction.  Like her ancestors of 1,000’s of years ago, the pots are pit fired and the colors are influenced by adding different natural elements to the pit fire.
